Mind your language -- 2

It's been far too long since I wrote the first article in this series. I was out and about today and espied this notice in the train station:


So, here is what I don't understand: how are you supposed to run on the handrail? Especially when it's so narrow:



Funnily enough, when I came out of the station I noticed this sign above a shop:

I don't know about you, but I think that's rather sad. It's bad enough to have faded from glory, but to actually be aware that you used to be regarded as a specialist but are now fading must be terrible.

I must write about Tommy Cooper soon: he was a great one for using language in a very literal manner.
